In seguito all'articolo
pubblicato dal The Guardian (www.guardian.co.uk)
il 21 settembre e alla posizione presa da Fairtrade Foundation pubblicata nel sito della stessa associazione (www.fairtrade.org.uk),
vogliamo comunicare che la posizione del Consorzio Fairtrade
TransFair Italia che è la seguente:
- Fairtrade TransFair
Italia ritiene che il Commercio Equo e Solidale si possa sviluppare anche
attraverso il coinvolgimento di aziende che operano nel mercato internazionale;
- non ritiene comunque che questo sviluppo debba coinvolgere aziende sottoposte
a campagne internazionali di boicottaggio , come
quelle che riguardano Nestlè. Infatti,
se da una parte queste aziende andranno a sostenere alcuni produttori
svantaggiati nei Paesi in via di sviluppo attraverso il commercio equo e
solidale, dall'altra continueranno a tenere comportamenti che riteniamo eticamente scorretti;
- Fairtrade TransFair
Italia non concederà in uso il marchio Fairtrade a Nestlè, qualora l'azienda stessa ne facesse richiesta;
- Fairtrade Italia continuerà a sostenere questa
posizione all'interno di FLO e a fare pressione su Fairtrade
Foundation per una revisione della
propria politica su questo tema.

the position of Fairtrade TransFair
Italy is:
-Fairtrade TransFair Italy
believes that it is possible to develop the Fairtrade
market through the involvement of companies which work in the international
markets
-Fairtrade TransFair Italy
believes that this development should not Involve companies which are under
international boycott campaigns, as
the ones regarding Nestlè.
In fact, if from one side these companies would support some disadvantaged
producers in LDC, on the other side they will continue to act on an etically incorrect way.
-Fairtrade TransFair Italy
will not grant the use of the Fairtrade Label in the italian market in case Nestlé asks for it.
- Fairtrade TransFair Italy
will continue to support this position in the FLO system and it will lobby Fairtrade Foundation asking to review their
policy about this issue.
